El secretario general de la ONU aseguró que insistirá en el tema y avizoró otro encuentro parta dentro de tres meses.
El secretario general de la Organización de las Naciones Unidas, Antonio Guterres, desde el sitio oficial de la entidad multilateral, convocó este jueves a que continúe el diálogo al presidente de Chipre, Nikos Anastasiades y el mandatario de la República Turca del Norte de Chipre, Ersin Tatar.

Guterres añadió, en declaraciones a la prensa, posteriores al encuentro: “Hemos podido acordar que convocaré en un futuro próximo otra reunión de los 5 + 1, nuevamente con el objetivo de avanzar en la dirección de alcanzar un terreno común para permitir el inicio de negociaciones formales”.
Asimismo, aseguró desde Twitter que el objetivo de las conversaciones era el bien común de los chipriotas: " Mi programa es muy simple: luchar estrictamente por la seguridad y el bienestar de los chipriotas, los grecochipriotas y los turcochipriotas, que merecen vivir juntos en paz y prosperidad ".
