The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported that at least 24 people were killed and dozens of others were injured during an attack against a military parade in Ahvaz, in southwestern Iran.

The attackers were "disguised as Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) and Basiji (volunteer) forces opened fire to the authority and people from behind the stand during the parade," Governor of Khuzestan Gholam-Reza Shariati told IRNA.
“None of the authorities were injured in the incident."
The attack happened during a parade that was held to celebrate the beginning of the Sacred Defense Week, a nationwide ceremony to mark the anniversary of the Belic conflict between Iraq and Iran which lasted for eight years from 1980 to 1988.
